Rightio teams up with national charity to boost youth employment

Rightio have teamed up with national charity 'Street League' to help unemployed local youngsters move into sustained employment.

So far, 24 16-24 year olds have gained valuable work experience with the Birmingham based home repairs and services company, with 13 of those, going on to secure a full-time role.

Street League aims to help develop vital working life skills alongside attaining important qualifications and playing sport.

Alix's CV to make sure she presented herself well on paper as well as in person and she landed an interview with Rightio.

Following the interview and two-week work experience, she was successful in obtaining the role as a Customer Acquisition Advisor and her self-worth dramatically improved.

Alix said, "Street League has helped me to build my confidence and get me into a job.

"I really enjoy working and have met some great people here and it wouldn't have been possible without the link Rightio have with Street League".

Customer Logistics Agent, Fergal Harnett, took a much different path to Rightio. He struggled to find employment despite graduating university with a 1st class honours degree from Manchester Metropolitain University but found success after getting involved with Street League.

Fergal said "Having had no previous work experience and unsure of how to structure my CV, I had a really hard time gaining employment, but after coming across Street League one day, I haven't looked back.

"The link that Street League have with Rightio is amazing. I am really grateful and the ethos of helping young people to get into work is great."

Since the two organisations began working together, Rightio employees who have graduated through the Street League program, have booked over 9,000 plumbing jobs and sold over 200 Care Club plans.

Klaudia Rachwal, 19, initially sought out Street League after searching for an alternative to her part time job at McDonalds.

Klaudia said "The link Street League has with Rightio has helped change my life by helping me get into full time work."

Matt Stevenson-Dodd, Chief Executive of Street League, said, "In Birmingham, more than 1 in 5 young people are out of work and in need of our support."

"Thanks to our partnership with Rightio, we've been able to support even more young people to gain work experience and create a positive future for themselves and their communities. Having a supportive employer is so important to helping young people get their foot on the career ladder."
